Joseph M. Sulkey Jr. Joseph M. Sulkey Jr., 86, of Latrobe (Unity Township) died
Thursday, April 23, 1998, In Latrobe Area Hospital. Born March 29, 1912, in
Youngstown, he was a son of the late Joseph M. Sr. and Mary Turcheck Sulkey. A
member of St. Vincent Basilica, Unity Township, Mr. Sulkey was in business as a
retail grocer for 66 years in Sulkey's Market, Unity Township. He was a member
of the BPO Elks Lodge 907, Thomas B. Anderson American Legion Post 515, Kingston
Veteran's and Sportsman's Association, and the Touchdown Club. He was a veteran
of World War II. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his
stepmother, Mary Mellicant Sulkey; two brothers, Carl F. and Ernest M., and a
sister-in-law, Sara F. Sulkey. He is survived by two brothers, Henry J. (and his
wife, Claire F.) and Gilbert J. (and his wife, Viola), and his sister, Mrs. Paul
(Mary) Huchette, all of Latrobe; numerous nieces and nephews, Wayne, Bruce,
JoAnne Sulkey McCarthy, Craig, Monica Sulkey Hayes, David, Mary Huchette Tobin,
Karen Huchette Toida, and other nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 7 to 9
p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Dell-Frederick Funeral Home
Inc., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday
in St. Vincent Basilica, Unity Township. Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery,
Unity Township. Veterans service will be held 9 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to charity of your choice.
