Donald L. Swauger, 94, of Greensburg, died Thursday, April 3, 2014, in St. Anne
Home, Greensburg. He was born Dec. 31, 1919, in Saltsburg, a son of the late
Martin and Isabelle (Giffen) Swauger. Don was a wonderful father, grandfather
and father-in-law. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Westinghouse
Electric, East Pittsburgh plant. He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of
Hannastown Golf Club. Watching the Penguins, Pirates and the Steelers were his
favorite pastimes and so was reminiscing about his childhood in Saltsburg. For
more than 20 years, he spent his winters in Scottsdale, Ariz. He loved the
desert. Don enjoyed every minute of his life and was always good to his children
and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his daughter and son. In addition
to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. (Lenz) Swauger,
Dec. 12, 1986. He is survived by a son, David A. Swauger and his wife, Peggy,
and a daughter, Dawn L. Germano and her husband, Richard, all of Greensburg;
five grandchildren, Lee Germano, Hillary, Elliot, Claire and Sydney Swauger; and
several nieces and nephews. In honoring Donald's wishes, there will be no public
visitation. A private service will be held in Unity Chapel, followed by private
interment in Unity Cemetery. LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., Greensburg, in
charge of arrangements. The Swauger family would like to express their gratitude
to St. Anne Home and the third floor nursing staff at Westmoreland Hospital for
Donald's exceptional care. Memorial contributions may be made to Clelian Heights
School, 135 Clelian Heights Lane, Greensburg, PA 15601.
