Takacs, 59, of 329 E. Main St., Ligonier, died Sunday, April 1, 1984, in Latrobe Area Hospital. Born Dec. 11, 1924, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Takacs. He was supervisor of drafting at Kennametal Inc.'s Loyalhanna plant. A veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Navy, he was a life member and past commander of Fort Ligonier Post 734 of VFW and a member of the Byers-Tosh Post 267 of American Legion, Ligonier FOE and the Old Colony Sportsmen's Club. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jo Takacs of Boston, Mass., and Nancy L. Takacs of Ligonier; two sons, Louis J. and Larry, both of Ligonier; two grandsons, and three sisters, Mrs. Theresa Berentes, Mrs. Margaret Billings, and Mrs. Elizabeth Hazelrigg, all of West Virginia. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday in Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Bell and E. Church streets, Ligonier. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Kovacs officiating. Interment will follow in Ligonier Valley Cemetery. Family suggests that memorials be made to the Leukemia Foundation. Fort Ligonier Post 734 of VFW will hold a service at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
