Born Feb. 2, 1916, in Luxor, he was a son of the late Nehemiah Franklin Thomas and Olive Mae Palmer Thomas. Before he retired he was a coal miner with the Pittsburgh Consolidated Coal Co. He was a life member of United Mine Workers of America and Fort Allen Social Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, June F. Watkins Thomas, Sept. 30, 1994; two brothers, Arthur and Marcus, and three sisters, infant Ruth, Lilian Linville and Betty Klingensmith. Surviving are a daughter, Marietta Amadio (and husband, D. D. Amadio) of Greensburg; a son, Curtis R. (and wife, Maureen) of Greensburg; three granddaughters, Dee Dee Todd, Debbie Fontana and Donna Amadio; four great-grandchildren, Hank, Leah, Nick and D. J.; a brother, Robert F. of Bethel Park; two sisters, Lenna Knapp of Greensburg and Emma Bell of Marguerite, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in Clement L Pantalone Funeral Home, 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Frederick C. Heltzenroder in charge. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
