Verneau, 78, of Latrobe, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 at UPMC Mercy, Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 8, 1938, in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Wilford N. Verneau Sr. and Freda K. (Jones) Verneau. David was a member of Latrobe United Presbyterian Church. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Standard Steel, Latrobe. During the Vietnam War era, he proudly served in the Army. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed spending time in his shop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant children, Anne Marie and David Verneau Jr. David is survived by his wife, Jean (Stull) Spencer Verneau, of Latrobe; one son, Aaron W. Verneau and his wife, Joni, of Hooversville; one stepson, Timothy Spencer and his wife, Kristi, of Cheswick; one stepdaughter, Tina Bolby and her husband, Michael, of Ligonier; one brother, Wilford N. "Buzz" Verneau Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Harlem, Ga.; one sister, Pamela J. Reschick, of Bristow, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, Emily Shafran and her husband, Asa, Erica Verneau, Jacob Bolby, Todd Spencer and his wife, Jessica, Emily Spencer, Paul Spencer, Mary Spencer, Kaitlyn Stoltz and her husband, Bob, Breanna Kreutzer and Meckenzie Baldinger; three great-grandchildren, Cora Spencer, Kalea Stoltz and Tobin Stoltz; also several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Latrobe United Presbyterian Church, at which time a funeral service will be held with his Pastor, the Rev. Donald Graff officiating. Interment will follow later at Lycippus Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Latrobe United Presbyterian Church, 340 Spring St., Latrobe, PA 15650.
