Dionigo O. "Nu jay" Vernino, 66, of Latrobe RD 2 died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1986,
in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Nov. 3, 1919, in Crabtree, a son of the
late Angelo and Domenica Ferrante Vernino. Employed by Unity Cemetery, Unity
Township, he was a member of American Legion Post 515, Latrobe, and the Crabtree
and Lloydsville volunteer fire departments. He was a veteran of World War II,
having served with U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Alice L. Moore
Vernino; three daughters, Mrs. Rose Ann Downs of Greensburg, Mrs. James (Connie)
Barger of Ravenna, Ohio, and Valerie Vernino, at home; one granddaughter; five
brothers, Anthony and Michael, both of Latrobe. Dr. Rocco of Pittsburgh, Dr.
Daniel of Little Rock, Ark., and Dr. Arthur of Edmund, Okla, and four sisters,
Mrs. Genevieve Malenic of Youngstown, Ohio, and Mrs. Ann Guzik, Carmella and
Mary Vernino, all of Latrobe. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9
p.m. Monday and Tuesday in John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, 601 Weldon St.,
Latrobe. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St.
Bartholomew Church, Crabtree, with the Rev. Aloysius Carasella, OSB, as
celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree.
