George Voich Sr., 80, of North Huntingdon died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, at his
home. He was born June 16, 1917, in Hahntown, a son of the late Eli and Mary
(Bullich) Voich. He once was employed as a welder for Westinghouse Electric of
East Pittsburgh, and he founded Voich Brothers Manufacturing of North
Huntingdon, where he invented and patented the road salt spreader. He was a
member of Holy Ascension Serbian Orthodox Church of Youngwood. A veteran of
World War II, having served in the U. S. Army, he received several citations and
medals for his service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
a sister, Catherine Michlik, and three brothers, Fred, Eli and Nick Voich.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Eleanor Ruffner Voich; his daughter, Deborah
West, and son, George Jr., both of North Huntingdon; two grandchildren, Anna and
Albert; a sister, Mildred Voich, and two brothers, John and Robert Voich, all of
North Huntingdon, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from
7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Joseph F. Ott Funeral
Home Inc., Fifth and Oak streets, Irwin. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m.
Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Irwin Union Cemetery,
North Huntingdon. Poem service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral
home with the Rev. Adam Yonitch, his pastor, officiating.
