Washnock, 92, of Latrobe, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born Nov. 21, 1917, in Unity Township, a son of the late John and Augusta (Houck) Washnock. Mr. Washnock was a veteran of World War II having served with the Army Air Corps. He was a charter member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Latrobe and prior to retirement, he was the president of Whitney Manufacturing Co. He was known by all as a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed working in his garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Jack, Michael and Donald Washnock; and three sisters, Mae Washnock, Ann Bridge and Henrietta Stewart. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 64 years, Trudie (Kahl) Washnock; three daughters, Linda Adams and her husband, Chris, of Latrobe, Jeanne Vesco and her husband, James, of Greensburg, and Debbie Spatola, of Latrobe; four grandchildren, Blair Adams and his wife, Denise, Tara Roach and her husband, Jason, and Michael and Jeanna Vesco; three great-grandchildren, Blair Adams, Ava Adams and Maeley Roach; two sisters, Freda Nehls and Betty Marks, both of Latrobe; a brother, Thomas Washnock and his wife, Dixie, of Whitney; a sister-in-law, Cecilia Washnock, of Whitney; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1325 Mission Road, Latrobe. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with his pastor, the Rev. Bill Schaefer, officiating. Private interment will be in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township. The HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, is in charge of arrangements.
