Michael H. Washnock, 90, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, in Latrobe Area
Hospital. He was born June 26, 1911, in Whitney, a son of the late John and Augusta
(Houck) Washnock. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Washnock was the owner and operator
of the former Appliance Service Company in Latrobe. He was a member of the Prince of
Peace Lutheran Church, Latrobe, was a World War II veteran, having served in the
U.S. Army, was a member of B.P.O.E. Lodge #907 and the American Legion Thomas B.
Anderson Post 515. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two
brothers, Paul and John Jack Washnock; and two sisters, Mae Washnock and Ann Bridge.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Showers Washnock; three sisters, Henrietta
Stewart of Cumberland, Md., Freda Nehls, and Betty Marks and her husband, Ralph,
both of Latrobe; three brothers, William Washnock and wife, Trudy, of Latrobe,
Donald Washnock and wife, Cecelia, and Thomas Washnock and wife, Dixie, both of
Whitney; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the
HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, Wednesday from 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Prince of
Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Smith officiating. EVERYONE IS ASKED TO
PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity
Township. Military services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1325
Mission Road, Latrobe, PA 15650.
