He was born April 8, 1920, in Derry to the late Theodore and Theresa Callaghan Wingard and also was predeceased by his wife, Helen Faye Gontz Wingard, and seven of his 12 siblings. His surviving siblings live in Derry. Ed was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Pitcairn, served in the Army as a member of the Military Railway Service as an engineer for three years during World War II and retired from Conrail as a railway engineer after 40 years of service. After retiring, he drove a school bus for five years and an Access cab for several years. Ed enjoyed the company of others and always tried to lift their spirits with a song and a dance. He will be missed greatly by family and friends. Also surviving are daughter Marsha Hall (Clark) and grandson David E. Hall (Sharon), all of Mechanicsburg. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at GENE H. CORL INC. FUNERAL & CREMATION CENTER OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike, a Golden Rule member. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church.
