Stanley S. Yanits Sr., 76, of Derry died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, in Latrobe Area
Hospital. He was born Nov. 14, 1921, in Hostetter, a son of the late Andrew and
Agatha (Siezak) Yanits. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a carpenter
with Local 462. He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Derry,
where he was an usher and generous volunteer of his time and talents. He was a
board member and trustee of VFW's Chestnut Ridge Post 444 and helped with the
Deny Food Bank. In addition to his parents, he was preceded In death by his
wife, Betty L Waldron Yanits, Aug. 3, 1994; a sister, Mary Balko, and a brother,
Joseph. Surviving are three sons, Stanley S. Jr. of St. Joseph, Mo., Lawrence A.
of Kansas City, Mo., and Paul A. of Derry; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Diane
M.) Blalas of Blairsville and Mrs. Aaron (P. Darlene) Kisic of Ligonier; two
brothers, Rudolph and John, both of Youngstown; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Smith of
Youngstown and Mrs. Julie Nolan of Monroeville; 12 grandchildren; nine great-
grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Family received friends from 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday In Michael J. Quinlisk Funeral Home Inc., 548 N.
Chestnut St., Derry. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in St.
Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Derry, with the Rev. Kenneth G. Zaccagnini as
celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Derry. VFW Post 444
conducted a service at 7:30 p.m. Monday In the funeral home.
