Abraham Penrod came to the Ligonier Valley in the early 1800's and 
settled between Laughlintown and Waterford.  When his son James died in 
the winter of 1846 he was buried on the farm where a small family 
graveyard was developed.  At a later time a number of headstones were 
stolen from the cemetery, all but one of which were later returned 
(probably due to the outrage of the local citizens).
