Adam B. Wilson, John Wilson, Ebenezer Wilson Editorial note: Edward Byram was the eldest son of Ebenezer Byram and Abigail (Alden) Byram of Windham, N.J. Edward and his first wife (Phoebe Ann Coe) and family came to Westmoreland County in the autumn of 1777, and settled on Lyons Run. In the spring of 1778, Indian raiding parties were in the area, and the family took refuge in the fort near Manor, Pa, After some time in the fort, Edward and his daughter, Abigail, decided to go back to their cabin to gather any eggs laid by the chickens. They were captured by a raiding party of Indians on April 7,1779, and taken to Canada, where they were sold to the British. In 1781 the captives were released and Edward Byram was put in charge of a group of captives to lead them back to the United States. In 1790, after wife Phoebe died, Edward sold his Westmoreland property, moving to Bourbon County, Kentucky, and later to Highland County, Ohio, where he married Fanny Brown.
