Written: February 28, 1833 Recorded: July 22, 1843 In the name of God Amen I Christian Myers of Ligonier Township in the County of Westmoreland State of Penna. Being in sound mind, memory and understanding but considering uncertainty of this transitory life I do hereby make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit. Principally and first of all I commend my immortal Spirit into the hands of God who gave it, and my Body to the Earth, to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors herinafter mentioned. And as to such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and dispose of the same in the manner following to wit. First as it respects my farm whereon I now reside it may be sold at the discretion of my Executors as soon as good opportunity offers. My personal property shall be sold by public vendue except such as shall be hereafter mentioned. As it respects my Wife I give and bequeath to her as follows viz. She is to have so long as she shall live or continue unmarried after my decease her maintenance from my farm so much as will be abundantly sufficient for her comfort. Of my personal property I give and bequeath to her, the grey mare if she shall be living at my decease if not another worth Eighty Dollars, also two good cows, six sheep and two hogs. As it respects my children which are living at my decease I give each and equal shares of all my property. I also give to my Grand Children Eliza, Susanna, Joseph & Johnston Myers Children of my Son John to be equally divided among them as they become of age one equal share with my Children--the one share to be divided among the four but as I have paid to my Son John Myers deceased three hundred and ten dollars & sixty two cents this shall be deducted from the share, but no interest counted on it. Also my Grand Children Barbara, Mary, John, Catharine & Susanna Myers Children of my Son Christian Myers deceased, one equal share to be divided equally among them in the same way and manner as the Children of John Myers above mentioned but subject to a deduction of two hundred and sixty dollars and ninety three cents, also no interest to be counted in this amt. This amt. I have paid to Christian Myers my Son now deceased, but for certain reasons I give and bequeath in addition to the above to the children of Christian Myers decd. two hundred and twenty five dollars to be equally divided among them as they become of age. I have paid to my daughter Elizabeth now married to Peter Brenizer two hundred and seventy one dollars and nineteen cents, which amt. shall be deducted out of her share of my property. As it respects my other Children I have paid certain amts. to them which will be seen by reference to my Books which amts. shall be deducted out of their several shares at my death. Lastly I nominate and appoint my Sons Michael & Henry and Edward Clifford my Son in law all of Ligonier Township Westd. Co. Penna. to be my Executors of this my last will and testament, hereby invoking [sic] all other wills, legacies or bequests by me heretofor made, and declare this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th Feby 1833. Christian Myers Signed, sealed, published & pronounced by the said Testator, as his last will and testament in presence of us, who in his presence & at his request have subscribed as Witnesses. John [McGowein ?] John [Harsnett ?] Legally proved and approved the 22nd day of July 1843. Same day recorded and Letters Testamentary issued to Executors. Executors sworn and affirmed before D. Cook Regr. Additional Comments: Christian Myers is buried in Old Ligonier Cemetery--inscription reads: Christian Myers, d 12 July 1843, aged 82y 4m 17d.
