In the name of God, I James Ogden considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory, blessed be Almighty God for he saves, do make and publish this my last will and testament in ??? ??? following. First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Hannah Ogden the use of the back room in the dwelling house we now reside in and also the use of the kitchen. I allow my beloved wife to be furnishe with a horse suitable for her to ride. I allow my wife to be ??? in a cow for her use and I ??? my real estate for a comfortable and decent living to be given to my beloved wife as long as she lives and to be buried in a decent and respectable manner. I also give all my personal property unto my beloved wife for her to divide equally between my three single daughters as she may thing proper. Secondly, I give and bequeath all my real estate unto my son John, with the exception of fifty acres as a piece of land lying on the ridge, the line commencing above Jacob Bowman's and running through the narrowest place of my land until the land of Alexander Gibson. I allow my son John to pay four hundred and ten dollars in manner following. Two years after my decease pay unto my son Joseph Ogden ten dollars and two years after my decease pay my son Jamison Hendricks Ogden fifty dollars and each year pay unto my son Jamison Hendricks Ogden fifty dollars until he has paid the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars to him. I allow my son John Ogden to pay unto my Grandson James Ogden fifty dollars ??? years after my decease. I allow one year after my decease the piece of land above mentioned to be sold and the money to be equally divided between my five daughters as follows. Susanna Blair, Mary Ann Taylor, Margaret Jane, Leticia and Agnes Elizabeth. I also give all my books unto my beloved wife and for her to dispose of them as she thinks proper and best. In Witness whereof , I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twelfth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight.
