The original Will is very difficult to read due to ink smearing and blotting. The transcription was taken from the Docket book. No 17 of 1868 Will of Adam Sterner 2744 The last Will and Testament of Adam Sterner of Rostraver Township in the County of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania. I Adam Sterner considering the uncertainty of this mortal life do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in the manner ad form following, to wit. I give and bequeath to my son John Sterner, Daniel Sterner, and the heirs of my son George Sterner, said heirs of George Sterner are equal share with my other sons, all my interest in and of the farm I now occupy to them their heirs or assigns forever. Also all of my personal estate after paying my debts, funeral expenses and costs of settling my estate (said debts include six hundred dollars to be paid to my daughter Mary Sterner). To my sons aforesaid, to wit, John, Daniel, and heirs of George Sterner and in case my sons John Sterner and Daniel should think it best to own the said farm, they or either of them can take it at twenty four hundred dollars and the proceeds after the payment of the debts aforesaid to be applied one third part to each of them and one third part to the heirs of my son George Sterner. My son John to pay Daniel one hundred dollars and a like sum of one hundred dollars to the heirs of my son George on account of their building the barn on said farm. And lastly I appoint Thomas Ryall sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this 9th day of June A.D. 1856 Adam Sterner Signed sealed published and declared by the above named Adam Sterner to be his last Will and Testament in presence of us who at his request, and in his presence have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereunto.
