ROBERT M. BARNITZ learned the watch-making and jewelry business under F. R. 
Polock, of York, after which he formed a partnership with his father, Edwin A. 
Barnitz, who was also a watch-maker and jeweler, and who had been engaged in 
that business in York since 1843, and who died in 1880.  Our subject continues 
the business under the old firm name of E. A. Barnitz & Son, it being one of the 
oldest establishments of the kind in the borough.
