Battey Publishing Co., 1886. _______________________________________________ Part II, Biographical Sketches, Warrington Township, Pg 195 ANDREW BENTZ was born October 28, 1826, in Warrington Township, York Co., Penn., son of Jacob and Mary (Bushy) Bentz, natives of York County, Penn. His great- grandfather was a native of Germany. Subject’s grandfather lived in Codorus Township, York Co., Penn., but about 1790 removed to Warrington Township. The father of subject was born in 1781. He was a farmer and died in 1833. He had thirteen children. Our subject remained on the farm until seventeen years of age, when he began serving an apprenticeship at carpentering, and worked at that trade for a number of years. He then began farming, which he has since followed successfully. He was married, in 1832, to Miss Lydia Bushy, a native of York County, and daughter of George Bushy. Mr. Bentz is a Democrat, and has held various political offices. In 1883 he was elected director of the poor of York County. He is a director of the Dillsburg National Bank. Mr. and Mrs. Bentz are members of the church, and are among the first citizens of Warrington Township.
