Battey Publishing Co., 1886. _______________________________________________ Part II, Biographical Sketches, Warrington Township, Pg 195 SOLOMON BENTZ is a native of Warrington Township, York Co., Penn., and was born October 28, 1841. He is a son of George and Nancy (Grove) Bentz, natives of York County, Penn. His grandfather, Jacob Bentz, was born in 1781 and died in 1833. The father of subject was born in 1807, was a farmer, and is still living. He has had ten children: Elizabeth, Susanna, Daniel, George, Solomon, Mary, Andrew, Catherine, Moses S. and Mary A. Our subject was educated at the public schools, and during the winters of 1861, 1862 and 1863 taught school. He is a farmer, and in 1868 settled where he now lives. He also owns the Bentz homestead. He was married in 1867 to Miss Henrietta Hershey, a native of Washington Township. Six children have blessed this union: William, John, Monroe, Elizabeth, Mary and Nancy J. Mr. Bentz is a member of the Lutheran and his wife of the Reformed Church.
