KYLE, son of Joseph Kyle, of Chester County, Penn., and Matilda (Scotten) Kyle, of Philadelphia, was born November 27, 1833, in Peach Bottom Township. At the age of fifteen years he engaged in boating, and followed it for twenty years. In 1870 he purchased the farm on which he now resides, and which contains 225 acres. He was married, in 1862, to Sarah Jane Gilbreath, and to them were born two children: Bertram B. and Mary Jane. His wife died in 1865. In 1871 he was married to Mary L. Snyder, of Lower Chanceford. Their children are Lydia D., Sarah E., Annie B., Hugh H. and Lulu B. Mr. Kyle has taken an active interest in the affairs of his township and has served as school director for several years.
