LONG is the widow of William S. Long, son of John and Harriet (Steel) Long, who was born in Lancaster County, Penn., in 1818, and died in 1869. He was engaged very extensively with his brother, Hugh H. Long, in milling. Mrs. Long was born in Hopewell Township, York Co., Penn., April 2, 1829. Her father, Archibald S. Jordan, was a paymaster in the war of 1812. He had ten children, of whom Mrs. Long was the sixth child. She was married in 1856, but has no children. Her husband was prominently engaged in raising troops in the late war, and was a highly esteemed citizen. After his death his widow returned to Stewartstown to the homestead, but subsequently located in the village, where she now resides.
