LOUCKS is a prominent young business man and identified with the development of the manufacturing interests of York. He was born in Baltimore, Md., September 29, 1856, and with his parents came to York County, in 1865. He received his education in the schools of York County, finishing his studies at the York County Academy. After finishing his studies he engaged with P. H. Glatfelter at paper manufacturing, continuing until 1878 when he became an assistant of his father, who had purchased an interest in the York Manufacturing Company, and in 1881 he became a partner. This company is extensively engaged in the manufacture of steam engines, water-wheels and mill machinery, and employs about forty hands. Mr. Loucks was united in marriage May 23, 1883, with Anna N. Lord of Baltimore, Md. Mr. Loucks is a Knight Templar and also an encampment member of the I. O. O. F.
