His grandfather, Samuel Moore, a native of Scotland, came to America and settled in Chanceford Township. He died in 1836. He had eight children – four sons and four daughters – the father of our subject being the eldest son. John Moore, subject’s father, was by occupation a cooper, and died in 1878, leaving three children: William, Samuel H. and John A. Our subject served a three-years’ apprenticeship at carpentering, and for seventeen years worked at that trade. Mr. Moore is now engaged in general farming. He was married, in 1868, to Miss Mary E. Shaw, of Chanceford Township. They have three children: Lemon S., Maggie S. and Ida E. Mr. Moore is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
