MYERS, son of John and Eliza Myers, of this township, was born February 1, 1847, and is of German descent. He was reared on the home farm, of which he assumed charge in 1868. In 1871 he made an extensive tour of the West; in 1874 he commenced dealing in agricultural implements at Dillsburg, and in 1881 he bought the home farm of eighty-seven acres, of which fifteen acres are in woodland. Mr. Myers has taken great interest in politics; has served his township as inspector; was a delegate to the Republican county conventions from 1868 to 1884 twelve times; and to the State conventions of 1881 and 1883, and his is also a prominent member of the P. of H. In December, 1867, he married Eliza Jane, daughter of Joseph Elcock, of Mechanicsburg, and this union has been blessed with six children: Minnie Florence, Elizabeth Lillian, Walter Loudon, Mary Ellen, Eliza Edith and Lura (deceased). Mrs. Myers is a member of the Bethel Mt. Pleasant Church.
