RITCHIE, son of Joseph A. and Nancy J. (Barnett) Ritchie, was born in Lancaster County, December 31, 1844, and, in 1846, came with his parents to Peach Bottom, where they located on a farm of forty-six acres. Here they continued to reside until the father’s death in 1866. Our subject having purchased the homestead and added to it about forty-five acres, has carried on farming successfully, and for the past few years has also been concerned in fruit canning. December 31, 1867, Mr. Richie married Annie E. Hickman, who died June 4, 1881, leaving four daughters: Dora L., Marian C., Nannie and Mary A. His second marriage, December 17, 1884, was with Miss Salle E. McConkey, daughter of S. D. McConkey, of Baltimore, Md. Mr. Ritchie is a member of the Slateville Presbyterian Church.
