RODES, eldest child of Daniel and Susanna (Palmer) Rodes, was born February 28, 1834, and still resides in the house built by his grandfather, Christian Rodes, son of John Rodes, the pioneer of Manchester Township. In March, 1856, our subject married Sarah Zorger, daughter of Samuel Zorger, of Newberry Township, and by this marriage have been born to him five children: John M., Samuel (deceased), Christian, Rufus R. and Jesse J. Mr. Rodes is a warm friend of educational projects, and is a worshiper at the United Brethren Church.
