Battey Publishing Co., 1886. _______________________________________________ Part II, Biographical Sketches, Shrewsbury Township, Pg 182 CONRAD SHUPPERT, farmer, was born in Baden, Germany, March 8, 1838, and came to this country with his parents, George and Mary (Braun) Shuppert, in 1848, and landed at Baltimore. His parents, who brought four children with them (four having died before leaving home), remained in Maryland until their death, the father dying in 1865, aged sixty-eight years, and the mother in 1869, aged fifty-eight years. Conrad had attended the schools in Germany, and, after arriving in this country, he attended the English schools for several months. In April, 1861, he was married at York, Penn., to Sophia Bush, also a German, and has eight children: Margaret, Mary, Rosa, Katie, Annie, Joseph, Dora and Augusta. The family ?? belong to the Catholic Church, in which he had been brought up. In 1868 he removed from Baltimore County to his farm in Shrewsbury Township, containing about 140 acres, where he now resides.
