Battey Publishing Co., 1886. _______________________________________________ Part II, Biographical Sketches, Lower Chanceford Township, Pg 127 WILLIAM WILSON, son of James and Mary (Bunting) Wilson, was born January 22, 1824, in the township where he now resides. His father was a native of Lancaster County and his mother of Chester County. His father was drowned on the 17th of March, 1836. After Mr. Wilson grew to manhood he was a pilot on the Susquehanna River for a period of thirty years. For a number of years he was proprietor of the hotel at McCall’s Ferry. In 1854 he was married to Mary E. Ayers, of Lower Chanceford. They have six sons and daughters, viz.: William T., Hannah M., James M., Clarkson F., Sarah E. and Jo Ellen. Mr. Wilson took the census of Lower Chanceford for the year 1860, has been inspector of elections, township assessor and road supervisor, and is the present assessor of his township. James M. Wilson, his son, was born in 1861 at McCall’s Ferry, and married Sarah Stokes of the same township. They have one child, John.
