Battey Publishing Co., 1886. _______________________________________________ Part II, Biographical Sketches, Manchester Township, Pg 146 JACOB YOST was born in York Township, July 7, 1820, and is the sixth of a family of fourteen children born to Abraham and Mary (Feiser) Yost, as follows: Elizabeth (deceased), Mary (deceased), Rachel (deceased), Rebecca, Charles, Jacob, Leah, Caroline, Abraham, Elizabeth, Ann, Peter, Isaac, Jesse and Sarah. February 5, 1845, our subject married Leah, daughter of David and Mary Magdalene (Feigley) Brillhart, of Springfield Township, and this union has been blessed with two children: Sarah, wife of Charles Herbst, and Mary, wife of Peter Burgard, of Manchester Township. Mr. Yost’s ancestry were among the pioneers of York Township, and his wife’s forefathers, paternal and maternal, were among the earliest settlers of Springfield Township. Mr. Yost is a gentlemen of industry and perseverance, and has secured for himself and family a handsome competence. He is a member of the Baptist Church.
