Notes for Heinrich Holtzapfel: The Will of Henry (Heinrich) Holtzapple (Henry-of-Germantown) HENRY HOLESAPPLE (c?-----------) late of the Hesseland born in the city Hitzenhunfen in Germany now of Germantown in the county of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, being sick and weak in body but of a perfect disposing mind and memory thanks be given to God, therefore do make my will and testament in manner and form following. First and principally I recommend my body, soul, and spirit into my saviour and creator's hands. And ("astouching"??) what temporal estate it pleased God to bestow on me or bless my endeavors which I give and dispose of as following. First it is my will is that all my estate, real and personal, shall be left all what is mine to my dear and loving wife Maria Magdalena Holesapple to have the use and profit arising from my estate during her natural life, if in case she remains my widow. But if she should happen to marry again then she shall have her thirds and no more; after her death all and singular shall be disposed of as hereafter mentioned. I devise and bequeath thirty pounds unto the poor of German Township to be distributed according to the discretion of my executors hereafter named. Also, I devise and bequeath unto my two brothers in law, Jeremiah and ("Baltes"?) Troudt, half the remainder of my estate, to be equally divided between them. The other half part and remainder I devise, give, and bequeath unto my two brothers and sister, Johannes Holesapple, Joan (Johann?) Yorig(?) Holesapple, and Dorothy Holesapple, all of the city of Hitzenhunfen and government of Hesseland aforementioned to be equally divided amongst them. And I now make and appoint my trusty and and well-esteemed friend and neighbors John Frederick ("Frederickaa"?) and Daniel Mackanat to be my executors of this my last Will and Testament, to whom I give full power to sell all what land and premises whatever that is mine here in Germantown or any part thereof and to sign, seal, and execute an unquestionable deed or deeds to any person or persons that may purchase the same as if I myself was present. Sinnsheim (Michelfeld Lutheran KB) this Jacob Holtzapfel was seen on 12 May 1684 by the Holfbauer's wife committing the act of sodomy with a horse. He was beheaded and burned at the stake for his crime. Notes for Hans Leonhard Holtzapple: THE BRITTANIA PASSENGERS Leonhard Holtzapfel (47), Erazmus Holtzapfel (20) and Anna Barbara Holtzapfel (57). These three were all from Michelfeld, located to the west of Sinsheim. Leonhard, also known as Johann Leonhard, was born Feb. 21, 1683 in Michelfeld. He and his wife, Maria Barbara, sponsored the baptism of a child in Michelfeld in 1717 and a daughter was married there in 1730. Erasmus is born Sept. 21, 1710 in Eschelbach. They settled in Lancaster Boro, Lancaster Co. Erasmus eventually moved across the Susquehanna to York Co. Anna Barbara was the daughter of Erasmus Katerman and his wife Anna Gertrude and was born in 1706. The Katerman family knew the Holtzapfel family, because Leonhard Holtzapfel's wife, Maria Barbara, was the sponsor at the baptism of one of the Katerman's other children. She settled at Muddy Creek in Lancaster County. In 1732, she sponsored the child of Johannes Schaeffer and Maria Catherina Mittenbuehl of Muddy Creek, also Michelfeld emigrants. In 1733, she sponsored a child of Johann Adam Ruppert and his wife Anna Barbara Holtzapfel. Other Katermans emigrated from Michelfeld in 1738, 1752 and 1754. The Michelfeld Lutheran Church records noted that the family was going to Pennsylvania in 1731. The settled at Muddy Creek, Lancaster Co., before moving on to York Co.
