Each heir received 71 pounds, eight Shilling and seven pence from George MILLER, oldest son. acres: 208 acres and 56 perches location: Manchester township, York County Pennsylvania history of deed: warrant at Philadelphia dated 28 March 1757 to Philip Miller lists heirs (Philip died intestate): George MILLER, eldest son Philip MILLER Michael MILLER Maria intermarried to George SCHETTLEY Elizabeth HOFFMAN, widow of John HOFFMAN Barbara intermarried to John SCHERP, Junior Catharine MILLER THIS INDENTURE made the 12th day of January and the year of Lord seventeen hundred and eighty eight BETWEEN George MILLER of Manchester Township in the county of York and stage of Pennsylvania yoeman oldest son and heir at Law of Philip MILLER late of the same Place deceased of the same Part. AND Philip MILLER and Michael MILLER two other sons of the said deceased George SCHETTLEY and Anna Maria his wife and the said Anna Maria being one of the Daughters of the said deceased, Elizabeth HOFFMAN Widow and relic of John HOFFMAN deceased who is also a daughter of the said Philip MILLER deceased John SCHERP Junior and Barbara his wife the said Barbara being in other daughter of the said deceased and Catharine MILLER one other daughter of the said deceased of the other part. WHEREAS and Pursuance of a Warrant under the hand of the honorable John Penn Esq. bearing the date at Philadelphia the twenty eighty day of March in the year of our Lord seventeen hundred and fifty seven, there was surveyed and laid out for the said Philip MILLER at the following and described Track of Land which is Situate lying and being in Manchester Township in the county of York aforesaid following and described as follows to wit. BEGINNING as a hickory, by Ludwig WISONG, now and Tenure of Andrew GROFFS, thence South eighty five degrees West ninety seven perches to a Post, thence by Lands of Michael LONG now in tenure of Frederick DELP and William REISER, South eight degrees East eighty four perches to a post thence South twenty four degrees East eighty one Perches to a Hickory, thence South five degrees East one hundred and two perches to a Post by lands of Valentine CRON’S now in tenure of Henry HEISTAND thence by the same South fifty five degrees and three Quarters East fifty eight perches and three tenths to a Post, thence by lands of Godfrey KING North thirty to degrees and a Quarter East one hundred and forty one perches and fourteen perches to a post the same Course by Lands of Andrew SMITH, thence North twenty four degrees West ninety six perches to a Post, thence by lands of Nicholas FRIDAY now in Tenure of John SHERP Senior. North forty eight Degrees west ninety nine perches and a half to the first above-mentioned Hickory and Place of Beginning Containing two hundred and eight acres and fifty six perches and allows of six acres of Cent 16 as in an by the said Warrant and Survey thereof, returned and remaining in the Surveyor Generals Office at Philadelphia may appear. AND WHEREAS the said Philip MILLER being as thereof Deceased, and his Demise died Interstate leading lawful Issue to Survive him namely George MILLER above named his eldest And heir at Law Philip MILLER, Michael MILLER and Maria intermarried to George SCHETTLEY, Elizabeth HOFFMAN, Barbara intermarried to John SCHERP, Junior and Catherine MILLER. NOW THIS DO Indenture WITNESSETH That the said Philip MILLER, Michael MILLER, George SCHETTLEY and Anna Maria his wife, Elizabeth HOFFMAN, John SCHERP, and Barbara his Wife and Catharine MILLER for and in Consideration of the sum of seventy one pounds, eight Shilling and seven pence in real pieces of gold and silver money of Pennsylvania to each and every of them in hand paid amounting to the whole 2,428 pounds 11 shillings and five pence by him the said George MILLER at and before it be execution here off the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged. THEY the said Philip MILLER, Michael MILLER George SCHETTLEY and Anna Maria his Wife, Elizabeth, John SCHERP and Barbara his Wife and Catherine MILLER. HAVE and each of them HATH fully and Clearly and absolutely granted, bargained sold, assigned, remised, released and forever quit Claim and Confirmed and by there Presents. Do and each of them DOST fully, clearly and absolutely grant, a bargain, sell, assign, remise, and release and forever quit Claim and Confirmed onto the said George MILLER and to his Heirs and Assigns forever all Such Estate, right, Title Interest, Claim and demand whatsoever, which Davis said Philip MILLER, Michael MILLER George SCHETTLEY and Anna Maria his Wife, Elizabeth HOFFMAN, John SCHERP and Barbara his Wife and Catharine MILLER or their and each and every Heirs had or might to have or in or to all the above described Plantation and kept tract of Land and Premises with the appurtenances is founded as an aforesaid, and Containing two hundred and eight acres and fifty six perches and allowance by any way or means whatsoever. TOGETHER with all Deeds Evidences and Writings touching or concerning the same or which he can or may combine without Suits at Law. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD this said described Plantation and Tract of Land Containing two hundred and eight acres and fifty six purchases of allowance as the same is with in Bounded and described, with the appurtenances is onto this said George MILLER his Heirs and Assigns. To the only Proper use Benefit and Behoof of this said George MILLER his Heirs and Assigns forever, for and in Such Manner that neither day the Said Philip MILLER, Michael MILLER George SCHETTLEY and Anna Maria his Wife, Elizabeth HOFFMAN, John SCHERP and Barbara his Wife and Catharine MILLER here and each and every were either of their Heirs nor any other Person or Persons for them or any or either of them on their or any or either of their Names, or in their Name right or Stead of any of them shall or will buy any Ways or Means hereafter have to claim Challenge or Demand any Estate, right Title or Interest in or to the hereby released Premises or any Part thereof, They said Philip MILLER, Michael MILLER George SCHETTLEY and Anna Maria his Wife, Elizabeth HOFFMAN, John SCHERP and Barbara his Wife and Catherine MILLER and their Heirs and each and every other than Shall be utterly Barred and included forever. AND WITNESS whereof the said Parties have here onto interchangeably Set their Hands and Sealed DATED and the day and year first and above written.
