He applied for pension May 1818 at Indiana Co., Pa. His widow applied Dec. 23, 1839 at Indiana Co., Pa. Catherine's sister, Ann Taylor, made an affidavit in Indiana Co., Pa. in 1839. A son, Joseph Harbison applied Sep. 26, 1849 in Indiana Co., Pa. and stated his father died May 25, 1849 leaving 6 children. Pension File #12,993 R (copy in file): "Pennsylvania, Indiana County. Francis Harbison of Indiana County in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania farmer upon oath makes the following declaration. That the said Francis Harbison in Febryary AD 1776 enlisted as a private for the term of one year in Captain Moses McLains company of foot in Col. Wm. Erwin Regiment in the Pennsylvania line that the Declarant faithfully served the whole of said term in said company and at the Battle of Three Rivers and was made prisoner thereon and was on AD 1777 honourable discharged. That the declarant is 62 years of age infirm and from his circumstances in life is now in need of a pittance from his country for support and that he hereby relinquishes his claim to every pension heretofore allowed him by the laws of the United States. (sig.) Francis Harbison" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pension File #12,993 R: Francis Harbison inscribed on the Roll of Pennsylvania at the rate of $8 per month, to commence on 14 of May, 1818. Certificate of Pension issued the 23 of July 1819 & sent to James J. Kelly, Indiana Cty, Pennsylvania. Arrears to 4th of March 1819 - 9 22/31= 77.07. Semi-anl All'ce ending 4 Sept 1819: $48 = total $125.07 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Letter in military pension file # 12,993 R: "Feb. 2, 1848 This declarant states that he is a son of Francis Harbison deceased, late of said county a revolutionary pensioner of the United States, under the act of 18 March 1818, at the rate of $96 per annum, said who died on the 28 March 1823. This declarant further states that from information and belief, deserved from his said father that the said Francis Harbeson, served in the war of the revolution, in the Pennsylvania line, enlisted in York County, Pennsylvania, for one year, during the war, was marched to New York, then to Canada, was taken prisoner at the battle of Three Rivers, & remained in confinement, sixteen weeks and four days, when he was taken to New York where he was exchanged and discharged. This declarant further state that he is a son of Catherine Harbison, deceased, who was the wife & widow of the aforesaid, Francis Harbison, that the said Catherine Harbison, drew a pension from the United States, under the acts proposed 7 July 1838, 3 of March 1843 and 17 June 1844, at the rate of Forty dollars per annum, and further states that the aforesaid Francis & Catherine Harbison, left six children ....... them now living, whose names are Joseph, Robert, William & Matthew Harbison, Mary intermarried with Thomas Cunningham & Jane intermarried with James Ewing.
