All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Nancy Poquette npoq@hotmail.com August 24, 2006, 3:25 am Pension Application Of Philip Miller, Natl Archives Microseries M804, Roll #__, Application #W4549 York County, Pennsylvania, July 21, 1833, Philip Miller, aged 82 years: “That he, the said Philip Miller volunteered to serve in Captain Quiggle’s [or Quickel] company in the county of York about the 1st of July, 1776 for 3 months and marched through Lancaster and Chester Counties to Philadelphia, from thence to Trenton, Princeton, Newark and Elizabethtown, and from thence to Fort Lee and there remained until the 16th of November and was ___ ____ discharged from Fort Lee immediately after the Battle at Fort Washington, having served 4 months and 16 days. Was discharged by Captain Quiggle, which discharge he has lost. “ “That on or about the month of December in the year 1782, he was drafted in York County to serve in Captain Pennington’s company to guard, watch and help secure some British prisoners at a place called Camp Security in the County of York, PA and served two months and was then discharged by Major Austin in the month of Septr 1782. I further certify that I have no documentary evidence in my possession, nor do I know of any person living whose testimony I can procure to prove my service except Tobias ?Syke, who served with me.” Interrogatories: “I was born in York County in the year 1751. I have no Bible record of my age. I was in York County when called into service, and have lived in said county ever since the Revolutionary War, and now live in York County. I volunteered in the [first] instance and was drafted in the last instance. I do not recollect the names of any of the regular officers that were in service at the time I served. I was acquainted with Colonel Swope and Captain Smyser, and Captain Spangler and Captain Long.
