Our paper is dated June 30, but issued today (June 24), in order to give us time to finish canvassing for subscribers and advertisements. Our next number will be dated July 7, and issued on the same day, and thereafter will appear regularly, every week. This number was issued before we had entirely perfected our arrangements, at the solicitation of many friends who were anxious for sample copies. OUR NEW SCHOOL-HOUSE. - Glen Rock is fairly proving its progressive spirit. There is no town in York County, but might take pattern after it in this respect. The new school-house now in process of erection in this place, will be an honor to the borough, and to the free school system. It is to be of a rectangular form, sixty-six feet long and forty-four feet wide, with a projecting vestibule in front, eight feet wide and extending thirty-three feet along the front. There are to be four large rooms, with a heighth between floor and ceiling of eleven feet; the stairway to the upper rooms will be in the vestibule. The whole edifice to be surmounted by a cupola, in which will be a large bell. A well has already been dug. The steps to the building will be of granite. The Board have bought an acre of ground from Mr. W. H. Sheffer, for $300, which will constitute the school-yard, to be divided into two parts, for the playgrounds of the two sexes. The contract for the building has been given to Mr. Charles Gantz, and completed it will cost above $7000. It is to be furnished with combination desks, in the latest approved style. The building is beautifully located on a hill, in the south-eastern part of the town.
