James Eppley, now of Washington, D.C., but formerly of this city, is visiting relatives here. T. Kirk White has finished adjusting losses at Oil City and has gone to Titusville to adjust losses there. Mrs. Mary Mullin, of Brooklyn, N.Y., is visiting her nephew, George J. Barry, on West Maple street. Miss Lulu Johnson, of Iowa, is visiting at the residence of her uncle, E. A. Fickes, 426 West Philadelphia street. W. H. Henson, for some time the guest of ex-Sheriff Greena-lt, left for Washington, D.C., yesterday afternoon. Oscar Rapier, of Philadelphia, a nephew of Thomas Platts, ex-chief engineer of the Laurel, is visiting Mr. Platts. Mrs. Edward Ebner (?) was called home from the country on account of the sudden death of her sister-in-law, Mrs. John Mayer. Mrs. A. C. Boll, Master Charles and Miss Victoria Boll left yesterday morning for Lancaster county, expecting to spend several day with their friends. John P. May, grocer, with his sons Elmer and Archie, is visiting at Dover and vicinity. They are expected to return on Saturday. John F. Patton, the popular West Market street druggist, and his niece, Miss Emma K. Allen, are taking in the ------ (remained illegible). SALES OF REAL ESTATE. Wm. T. Nelson, executor of Sophia Frey, deceased, sold the following real estate yesterday morning: A lot of ground on West King street, between Hartley and West streets, containing a frontage of 225 feet, to Joseph R. Strawbridge, esq., for $25.25 per foot. A lot containing sixty-five feet, on West King street, to Joseph R. Strawbridge, esq., for $22.50. The sale was then adjourned to W. S. Owen's auction room, on Saturday, June 18th, at 7:30 p.m. DIED MAYER - On the 14th inst., Catherine, wife of the late John Mayer, aged 53 years, 2 months and 23 days. Funeral Friday morning, June the 17th, from her late residence, in Mayersville, leaving the house at 8 o'clock. High Mass of Requiem at St. Mary's church at 8:30 a.m. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Interment at St. Mary'' cemetery.
