NICKOL - On November 14, 1899, at 3.30 a.m., Frederick W., son of John H. and Annie Elizabeth Nickol, aged 24 years, 1 month and 9 days. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from his late residence, No. 454 East Market street, (East York), on Thursday, November 16. Services at the house at 2 o'clock. Interment at Prospect Hill cemetery. MRS. STRICKER BURIED. The funeral of Mrs. Magdalena Myers Strickler took place from her late residence, West York avenue, yesterday afternoon and was largely attended by relatives and friends. Rev. G. P. Schallhamer was the officiating clergyman. The floral tributes attested the esteem in which the deceased was held by her many friends. Interment at Prospect Hill cemetery. SUCCESSFUL OPERATION Mrs. A. W. Lilly, wife of Rev. A. W. Lilly, formerly of this city, but now residing in Mechanicsburg, was yesterday successfully operated upon for catarct by Dr. E. W. Brickley. Her many friends will be glad to learn that she is getting along nicely, with every prospect of good vision. PERSONALS. Rev. James Wood left for Harrisburg yesterday morning. Miss Lulu Durr is seriously ill with an attack of typhoid fever at her home, North Newberry street. Mr. David Hoffman, formerly of this city, but now of Fairview, Cumberland county, Pa., is visiting friends in this city. Mr. Mathias Smyser and Mr. Jesse Conrad, the genial clerk in E. W. Spangler's drug store, spent Sunday in East Berlin. Miss Nellie Dinsmore, of Wilkesbarra, who had been visiting her sister, Mrs. James T. Mackie, for the last month, returned home Saturday. Mrs. Nelson Shepp, of South Grantley street, is confined to her bed with a severe attack of typhoid fever. Dr. Zeel, of New Salem, is the attending physician. BRIEF LOCAL EVENTS. Mr. Joseph Elsessor is adding another story and making other improvements to his residence on South George street. Peter Reider, mason, residing in Eberton, mashed his thumb with a hammer last Saturday. Dr. Pfaitzgraff dressed the injuries. Danie. Lloyd, residing on Belvedere avenue, had one of his thumbs badly injured by having it caught in a shaping machine at the Martin carriage works last Saturday. Dr. H. M. Holtzaphie, Jacob G. Coleman, Jacob Weaver and Clark Newbo-d, left Saturday for Fulton county, where they will spend a week in quest of deer, wild turkeys and other big game.
