M. Bucher returned to Philadelphia this afternoon. John I. McKinney, of Green Ridge, was in Hanover this morning. J. Gordon Fisher, of the Keystone Cheroot Co., returned this morning from a business trip through the South. Miss Louisa Kale, of York Street, left this afternoon to spend a week with her sister, near Stony Brook. Mrs. A. L. Menges, of Menges Mill, spent the day with her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Tanger, of York Street. Miss Mary Hartman, of Pleasant Street, returns home this evening after a pleasant visit to York friends. New Company Pushing Along. At the regular meeting of Eagle Chemical Company, held last evening, at Bowman & Huff's cigar factory, the trustees were instructed to close contracts for the erection of a frame building to be used temporarily for a fire house, and contain conveniences for a public hall and assembly room. The building which will be 28 x 60 feet, will be erected on the lot recently purchased from Wm. D. Albright, on Hanover Street. There were 19 propositions for membership received at last night's meeting. Real Estate Matters. Broker Bastian has rented property No. 265 Frederick Street to William H. Dodrer, of Westminster, and John T. Shaffer, of Franklin Street. BRIEF MENTION. The long-advertised, long-looked-for Karo Corn Syrup has at last arrived and is on sale by the Hanover grocers. While assisting in placing a derrick to raise the large smoke stack at the silk mill, Leo Martin, of Littlestown, was struck on the head by a falling pipe which inflicted a gash on the top of his head two inches long. Rev. Stewart W. Herman resigned as pastor of the Lutheran Church at Wrightsville, to become assistant to Dr. Gilbert, at Zion Lutheran Church, Harrsiburg. The Star says it is likely he will be succeeded by a married man. A new mail messenger has been appointed on the route between York New Salem and Graybill Station, on account of the resignation of E. G. Smith, who had been carrier for many years. Daniel Glatfelter has been appointed.
