Crawford, of South Baltimore Street, and during his stay has had two operations performed. One was the amputation of a finger, which was done by Dr. Crawford and Dr. N.W. Hershner, of Mechanicsburg, assisted by Mrs. Crawford, who is a trained nurse. The other operation was one performed on the eye, by Dr. J. Walter Park, of Harrisburg, assisted by Mrs. Crawford, the operation being for ptergium. Last Friday about eleven o’clock while Ellsworth Bushey and two other boys were riding down street on a water wagon, drawn by a traction engine, a sudden jolt landed them in the street and young Ellsworth received serious and painful injuries, which included a broken collar bone, an abrasion of the elbow and a lacerated ear, which required three sutures. Owing to the absence of Dr. Crawford, who was in Baltimore on business, Mrs. Crawford, who is a trained nurse, was prevailed upon to do what she could to ease the boy’s sufferings, which she did, with such success that much of the pain was alleviated by the treatment. In the evening Dr. Crawford returned and he and Mrs. Crawford gave the necessary surgical attention to their patient and the next day he was able to walk about.
