An immense crowd attended the afternoon sale at the Silk Mill additions, Thursday, May 4, when 94 lots were sold by the “Dixie Twins” until 5 o’clock. The sale was held by local real estate agent Alvin R. Nissly. Every one of the 95 lots on the addition was sold, except No. 93, facing Moul avenue, which was drawn by O. H. Frey, the luckiest man present, to whom the deed was presented, without charge. Two lots which appeared on the plot, namely Nos. 61 and 69, facing on Ridge avenue, were not in Mr. Nissly’s contract with the Thrift Land company, so were not offered for sale. The total amount of this sale was $11,379, making it one of the largest ever pulled off in Hanover, and the large crowds that attended were much impressed by the conduct of the sale. This was solely in charge of the Thrift Land Co., who had the famous “Dixie Twins,” as auctioneers, and they made things fly in a style that was nothing short of astonishing. During the afternoon many valuable present were drawn by those attending the sale, which pleased the many lucky persons. Following is a report of the entire lot sale: No. 1-2 – Clinton N.
