W. Pressel, Centre Square, has been taken to the Harrisburg Hospital. It is thought he is suffering with typhoid fever. Bair Brothers have opened a cigar factory in Lewisberry, which will employ 25 hands. The firm of Wise Brothers, carriage builders and dealers, of Lewisberry, has been dissolved, Lewis C. Wise re-retiring. Elmer C. Wise will continue the business at the old stand. Mrs. F. M. Sesiover and son, of Kralltown, visited Mrs. Annie Seitz, at Lewisberry, Saturday. Don't forget the sale of Mrs. Catharine A. Baker, at Franklintown, Tuesday, Dec. 12, 1916, large lot of household goods. Miss Sophia Daugherty, Dillsburg's oldest resident, was able to go to the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Emminger, on Thursday, to partake of her Thanksgiving dinner. Mrs. Daugherty enjoys very good health, considering that she is 86 years old. A. B. Elicker, of Mechanicsburg, spent Wednesday afternoon in Dillsburg. Mrs. Russel R. Flohr, of near York Springs, a daughter of Mr. Joshua Deardorff, of Dillsburg, has been taken to the Harrisburg Hospital for treatment of rheumatism, from which she has suffered for a year or more. Her many friends hope for her speedy recovery. Messrs. Ira L. Heikes and W. M. Elicker were in York on business, Monday. L. A. Arndt transacted business in Harrisburg, Monday. Mrs. James Heikes and Mrs. Ira L. Heikes were in Harrisburg, on Monday. Miss Martha L. Bailey returned to the Woman's Medical College, at Philadelphia, on Monday, after spending Thanksgiving at the home of her mother, Mrs. Josephine Bailey. John A. Laird, the widely known Monaghan township politician, was in York, on Monday. M. L. Karns and family spent a few days at the home of J. M. Karns and family. Mr. Karns is a conductor on the Valley Traction line and resides in Lemoyne. Prof. Frank Heikes, of Bucknell University, has returned to that institution after spending a few days vacation at the home of his father, Israel Heikes, on Route 5. Mr. G. L. Britcher spent Monday in Harrisburg. Clear Springs Mrs. Clyde Spahr and Mrs. Daniel Hamm spent Wednesday with John Hamm's. The sales of the personal property of the Edward Byers Estate were largely attended and good prices were realized. Floyd Trostle, wife and daughter, Helen, who had been visiting in this community, during the past week, returned to their home, in York, Sunday. Boyd Rider has contracted to haul lumber for Ben Hostetter. David Sloshour and wife made a business trip to Dillsburg, on Wednesday. Saw Mill and Barn Burned At eleven o'clock Thursday morning Dutery's saw mill at Uno(?), the barn, hog pen and chicken house of Jacob N. Dutery were completely destroyed, with heavy loss. There was a lot of lumber and the cider press which were also burned. The fire started in the mill and when discovered had already gained a great headway. Birthday Party A birthday surprise dinner was given at the home of George L. Wagner, of Dillsburg, in honor of his 49th birthday by his children. The large table was heavily laden with the good things of the season and was enjoyed by all present. The following were present: Geo. L. Wagner and wife, Charles Wagner, wife and children, Glenn, Dorothy and Kenneth, William's Mill, Murray Williams, wife and daughter, Ethel, of Dillsburg, Sylvan Myers, wife and son, Wayne, of Siddonsburg, John Wagner, wife and son, Clare, of Lemoyne, John Evans and wife, of Penbrook, George Arnold and wife, of Franklintown, Frederick Pentz and wife, of Mechanicsburg, Mrs. Jennie Wagner, of Franklintown, Lillie Wagner, of Siddonsburg and Chester Wagner, of Dillsburg. The day was well spent and all enjoyed themselves, wishing George many more birthdays. ONE PRESENT. Public Sale!
