Abel, about 40 years old, of York, a conductor in the employ of the York Railways company, was fatally injured at Wrightsville, Thursday evening, Oct. 10, when he was crushed between two trolley cars at the foot of Hellam street. He died at 7 o’clock near Stony Brook, while being hurried to the York hospital for treatment. At the time of the accident Abel was fixing the lamp on his car. His back was turned toward another car standing about 12 feet above, which drifted down and struck him. His injuries consisted of fractures of both legs at the hip, a compound fracture of the femur and a ruptured artery on the left side. The bone of the left leg protruded through the flesh. From these injuries, it is said Abel bled to death. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, October 19, 1912
