Kraft, of Spring Grove, has in his possession a collection of old coins and currency. He has 123 old cents, nearly a complete set. The oldest in the collection is dated 1792. Also, a number of old half dollars, with the words “half dollar” inscribed on the edges. One of the coins is a 25 cent gold piece of 1853. The coin has six corners and is not larger than the top of a lead pencil. His collection also contains a half cent piece, two cent pieces, and a silver cent. The last is dated 1859. He also has a silver five cent piece of 1829. His collection he values at several hundred dollars, and has refused several offers. Isaac Lau, an aged resident of that place, has in his possession an old English coin, which bears the date 1738. The word “Britannia” and the year appears on the one side and “Georgvius II Rex” on the other side of the coin. It is as large as a half dollar and is made of copper. Mr. Lau found the coin while plowing more than 25 years ago. Mr. Lau believes that the coin was lost by old English settlers. He highly values the coin. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, November 9, 1912
