Miss Bertha Brockley, while carrying Ethel, the four-weeks-old daughter of her sister, Mrs. Harvey Snyder, of McAllister street extended, down a stairway about 3 p.m. Sunday, tripped and fell headlong down the steps, taking the child with her. The little tot received a bruise on the head which might prove serious. Dr. H. M. Alleman was summoned and gave the injured child every attention, and though she is seriously hurt, hopes are entertained for the child’s recovery. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, July 20, 1912
