Lester Stahl, the 20-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. David R. Stahl, of No. 40 East Middle street, met with a serious accident on Monday about 7 p.m. Mr. Stahl is employed by the E. R. Haffelfinger Co., wall paper manufacturers, at the East End, and while resetting a printing machine, his right arm came in contact with the belt, which put the machine in motion, starting a large wheel, which caught Mr. Stahl’s right arm and made one revolution with the young man clinging to the wheel. Fellow employees, observing the plight of Mr. Stahl, promptly turned off the power and rescued him from his perilous position. Fortunately, in being swung through the air, his body did not come in contact with any projection, thus saving the young man from certain death. In revolving, however, his body came in close contact with the belt and framework of the machine – the belt causing severe lacerations on his arms and burns on the left side of his face. Mr. Stahl was taken to the office of a local physician, where his injuries were dressed. He is resting comfortably this afternoon, though confined to bed.
