Eli Wildasin, living near the Pumping Station, West Manheim township, met with a painful accident on Monday at 8 a.m. While sawing wood with a circular saw, run by four horses attached to a horse- power threshing machine, the strap tore, frightening the horses. They started to run away and Mr. Wildasin, in his excitement to stop the horses, threw his left hand to front of the saw, which was running at rapid speed. The back of his hand was lacerated to the bone and the thumb partly severed. The injured man was brought to the office of Dr. T. H. Wertz, where the muscles and ligaments were reunited and the skin closed by several sutures. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, November 23, 1912
