Bair Dies While Mowing Lawn Retired Postman And Publisher Of Church Paper Was 76--Funeral Services Sunday Harry E. Bair, 76, well-known Hanoverian and retired mail carrier, died at 1 p.m. yesterday while mowing grass at his home, 643 Frederick street. He had been in ill health for the past two years. The originator and publisher of a monthly church paper, “Evangel,” Mr. Bair was Sunday school superintendent and a member of the consistory of Christ Reformed church, near Littlestown, for more than 40 years. He also taught the Ladies’ Bible class there. Mr. Bair retired from the postal service on September 1, 1939, after serving 30 years. he was for several years treasurer of the Friendship Fire Company, Pennville, and was affiliated with the Firemen’s Association of York county, Hanover Lodge 318, Knights of Pythias, and the Mystic Chain. Mr. Bair is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice J. (Dietz) Bair; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth E. Baker, 839 West Middle street; Mrs. Florence Wise, Blettner avenue, and Mrs. Bernice P. Wildasin, 814 West Middle street; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. His pastor, the Rev. Howard G. Koons, will officiate at funeral services Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Frederick Bucher funeral home, Frederick street. Burial will be in Christ church cemetery.
