Bankert died Wednesday, August 13, at 9:30 p.m. at his home, near Krentler’s schoolhouse, Penn township, from a paralytic stroke received that morning at 6 o’clock. He was rendered unconscious, remaining in the condition until death followed. His age was 62 years and 8 days. The deceased had his left leg broken four weeks ago by a wagon wheel passing over it while hauling hay. He was rapidly recovering from this injury, when the fatal stroke came. Mr. Bankert was twice married, his first wife being Miss Elizabeth Wildasin, who passed away fifteen years ago. In 1903 he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah A. Messinger, who survives him, with two children of the first wife: Samuel F. Bankert, of near Krentler’s schoolhouse and Pius Bankert, living near the Pumping Station, Penn township. Funeral, Saturday, August 16, brief services at the house at 9 a.m., further services and interment at Wildasin’s meetinghouse, Rev. J. H. Hartman officiating.
