All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ _______________________________________________ Miss Amanda Bare Following an illness of four weeks from infirmities, Miss Amanda Bare, No. 559 Abbottstown street, one of Hanover’s oldest citizens, passed to the Great Beyond February 10th, at 3:30 o’clock. She was aged 87 years and 6 days. The deceased was a daughter of the late Daniel and Nancy (Forry) Bare, and was born in Hamilton township, Adams county Feb. 4, 1829. It was in this township her early life was spent until the retirement of her parents from active duties when she moved with them to her late home on Abbottstown street. Miss Bare was a life-long and consistent member of the Mennonite church, Abbottstown street, and when health permitted always attended the services. She was a kind neighbor, and notwithstanding her advanced years was ever thoughtful of those around her. She is survived by an only sister, Miss Annie Bare, at home. Funeral, Sunday, Feb. 13th, brief services at the house at 9:30 a.m., further services in the Mennonite church, Rev. Daniel Stump, Rev. Peter Shank and Rev. Lanford Landis officiating.
