BARNETT Died at his home in Lower Chanceford township on Wednesday, March 29, 1911, aged 73 years, 10 months, 15 days. The funeral took place on Saturday, services and interment at Pine Grove Presbyterian church. Pallbearers were George Snodgrass, Veasey Colvin, S. Free Johnson, Thomas T. Snyder, John E. Witmer, James Kilgore; John L. Norris undertaker. Eneas Franklin Barnett was the eldest son of the late James and Elizabeth (Hess) Barnett, and was born in Lancaster county May 14, 1837. About 1838 his parents moved to York county having purchased the farm now owned by Mrs. Wm. J. Ritchie, near Peach Bottom; and about the year 1815 he removed with his parents to Lower Chanceford where he resided the remainder of his life. He followed the vocation of a farmer, but taught school a number of years after arriving at manhood. In 1876 he was elected an Elder in the Pine Grove Presbyterian church in which capacity he served most acceptably for 35 years. In 1905 he represented Westminster Presbytery in the General Assembly. Though quiet and reserved in his manner, he was an exemplary and influential member of the church, and the community in which he lived. He was unassuming, but a man in whom the people had the utmost confidence for fairness, honesty and square dealing; his word was his bond. The high esteem in which he was held was manifest by the large attendance at his funeral. The services were conducted by his pastor Rev. Thomas G Baxter, his text being, "Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him." The choir sang two hymns, and a duet "In That City" was touchingly rendered by Mrs. Robert E. Neely and Mrs. R. Houston Boyd. He was married to Miss Jane Norris, who died about ten years ago. Six children survive - James E., Thomas N. and David H. Barnett, and Mrs. Margaret, wife of Jacob Colvin, Mrs. Elizabeth, wife of Calvin Kilgore all of Lower Chanceford, and Mrs. Rhoda, wife of William J. Myers, of Delta. He was a member of a family of 11 children, six of whom survive - David John, Zenas Paine, Grier Thomas, Samuel Parke and Ambrose Hess Barnett and Mrs. Catharine, wife of John Keener.
