BARNETT DELTA - Richard M. Barnett, 59, of Delta RD 2, died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, where he was a patient for a week following an automobile accident. He was the husband of Lois (Poteet) Barnett. The service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, Sunnyburn. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with Military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7130 and the American Legion Post 182. Viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., with Masonic rites at 8:30 by Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 663. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Grove Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, care of Zatae Atkins, Airville RD 2, 17302; or to the Shock Trama Unit of the University of Maryland Hospital, 22 S. Green St., Baltimore. Mr. Barnett was born in Lower Chanceford Twp, the son of Stella A. Barnett, Delta RD 2, and the late Harry L. Barnett. He was employed by Safe Harbor Water and Power Corp. 42 years and also worked as a farmer for most of his life. Mr. Barnett was a member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church. He was also a member and former master of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 663. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member and former commmander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7130 and also a member of the American Legion Post 182. He served as a school director for the Red Lion Area School District for several years. Mr. Barnett also is survived by a son, Richard M. Barnett, Jr., Delta RD 2; five daughters, Linda Streett, Safety Harbor, Fla.; Cynthia Barnett, DePere, Wis.; Sara Williams, Delta RD 3; Suzanne Barnett and Kim Jones, both of Delta RD 2; seven grandchildren, a brother Harry L Barnett, Jr., Elverson RD 2., and a sister, Nancy Grim, Red Lion RD 5.
